We are delighted to welcome Dr. Carl Bear to St. Mark’s as our new Director of Music. Carl recently moved to Ottawa from Vancouver where he was interim organist at St. Mary’s Kerrisdale Anglican Church for the past year. Before that, he served for three years as director of music at St. Giles Kingsway Presbyterian Church in Toronto. He has served as music director in Methodist, United, Anglican, and Lutheran churches in South Bend (Indiana), Ottawa, and Berkeley (California). He has degrees in church music, musicology, theology, and liturgy, and is involved in The Hymn Society in the United States and Canada. Carl is looking forward to getting to know St. Mark’s choir and congregation. On Sunday, October 2, parishioners welcomed Carl and enjoyed his musical talent.
