Camille Isaacs Morell is a business leader, volunteer and artist, who uses her talents to help people and organizations be better and do better.

Originally from Jamaica, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Language and Linguistic Studies from the University of the West Indies, and Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami, and certificates in financial services, digital marketing and governance.

Camille spent eight years as a Foreign Service Officer in the Jamaican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, where she served in the Protocol, Economic and Foreign Trade Divisions, and joined Jamaica’s delegations to international meetings and state visits.  In 1993, she migrated to Montreal where she embarked on a career in marketing, and corporate social responsibility, at Standard Life Assurance Company and McKesson Canada.  More recently she has served in the nonprofit/social impact sector as Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society of Montreal and now as Vice-President, Hope for Dementia.

Her passion for God’s mission has led her to volunteer for several causes relating to health, women and girls, and marginalized persons.

In the Diocese of Montreal, she was a member of the working group that submitted to the 161st synod, the Anti-Black Racism Action Plan to dismantle systemic racism in the church.  She has served on the board of directors of the Anglican Foundation, the YWCA, the Salvation Army, and the Quebec L’Arche Communities Foundation.   At various times she has served as a volunteer and mentor in the Anglican Prison Ministry, Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, Black Academic Scholarship Fund, and Black Enterprise Leadership Initiative.

In her spare time, Camille creates pastel paintings with the intention of capturing the beauty of God’s creation and bringing joy to people.

She cherishes her beloved husband Robert, whom God has blessed her in partnership for over 20 years.

IN THE GARDEN PARISH by Camille Isaacs-Morell

The parish of St. Ann is in the north of Jamaica.  Aptly named “The Garden Parish,” St. Ann is known for its natural floral beauty, rolling hills, valleys and pastures, and of course its white sand beaches that welcome tourists year after year.

There is much history in St. Ann, which is the birthplace of three great men from three generations – Marcus Garvey, the Pan-Africanist pioneer and national hero of Jamaica; John Isaacs, my father whose life was dedicated to the education of young Jamaicans in a newly independent country; and Bob Marley, who has immortalized messages of the need for equal rights and justice through reggae music on the international stage.

From the vantage point of a hill overlooking the coast and the lush inland vegetation, I was enchanted by the picture of beauty created by the pink and white blooms against the low stone wall.  Low stone walls are a common sight in St. Ann, relics of the plantations during the colonial era, dating back to the early 1500’s.  As I put the final touches on this painting, I couldn’t help but think about the myriad stories that this wall could tell.
